DESIGN CONCEPT

The original footprint of this ensuite was very small and outdated. The home included four bedrooms that were not needed by the owner, leading to the decision to create a more spacious ensuite by incorporating an adjacent bedroom and repositioning the hall bath.

ORIGINAL FLOOR PLAN

The original footprint of this ensuite was very small and outdated. The home included four bedrooms that were not needed by the owner, leading to the decision to expand the ensuite into one of these rooms to allow for more space.

NEW FLOOR PLAN

To achieve this, we started by expanding the area into the unused bedroom, providing ample room for a larger ensuite. The old stall shower was removed and replaced with a contemporary freestanding soaking tub. Additionally, we added a standing shower in the newly expanded space and created a separate toilet room for privacy. The vanity area was also enlarged to accommodate a double vanity, with extra cabinetry installed in between for increased storage capacity.

The vanity cabinets are Wellborn Cabinets in the Belmont style and color “onyx,” featuring brushed gold hardware.

To add visual interest, we incorporated a honeycomb pattern with Calacatta marble hexagon tiles on the shower floor, niche, and bath niche

The vanity cabinets are Wellborn Cabinets in the Belmont style and color “onyx.” They feature brushed gold hardware that matches the plumbing fixtures of the room.

TILE AND STONE

For a truly opulent touch, the homeowners opted for a gold marble-looking tile on the walls of the newly built shower. This tile exudes elegance and creates a luxurious feel. To add visual interest, we incorporated a honeycomb pattern with Calacatta marble hexagon tiles on the shower floor, niche, and bath niche, which beautifully complements the gold marble-look tile and adds contrast through their unique shape and pattern.

FINISHES

The vanity wall includes wallpaper from Anthropologie to add visual interest and texture to the room. In addition to this modern wallpaper, the room also includes a shiplap accent wall behind the soaking tub. The walnut brown wood mirrors help bring the warm wood tones of the floor up into eyeline and add further texture to the room.

The finished suite remodel creates an environment that feels thoughtful, calm, and tailored to how the homeowners live. Reworking the layout improved circulation and made room for better organization and use of space, giving each area a clear purpose. Material and finish choices were selected to form a cohesive palette that feels warm and refined while performing well for daily use. Lighting and fixture selections support both task work and overall comfort, helping the suite feel bright and welcoming throughout the day. Storage and surface decisions were made to reinforce functionality and ease of use. The result is a suite that enhances everyday routines, supports comfort, and adds lasting design quality the homeowners will enjoy for years to come.
