Villanova Bathroom Remodel
DESIGN CONCEPT
This design transforms the existing primary bathroom into a serene and timeless retreat. The vision focuses on light, balance, and refined simplicity. By emphasizing symmetry, natural materials, and soft tonal contrast, the space feels cohesive and elevated. The vaulted ceiling and natural daylight from the skylight inspired a soft, calming palette and subtle layering of textures. The new layout enhances functionality while creating a spa-like atmosphere centered on comfort and calm.
ORIGINAL FLOOR PLAN
The original bathroom featured a single vanity, built-in corner tub, and an enclosed shower that disrupted the flow of the space. Heavy finishes and dated fixtures made the room feel dark and confined, minimizing the architectural potential of the vaulted ceiling. Storage was limited, and lighting was insufficient for both task and ambient needs.NEW FLOOR PLAN
The updated plan maintains the existing footprint but redefines the layout for improved balance and daily use. The built-in tub has been replaced with an undermount soaking tub framed in beadboard with a quartz surround, creating a clean focal point beneath the window. The shower footprint expands to include a decorative accent tile feature and marble shelving. Dual vanities provide symmetry and function, with framed mirrors to match the cabinetry. A reworked lighting plan incorporates recessed fixtures, wall sconces, and dual exhaust fans for comfort and performance. The window above the tub was replaced with a tempered vinyl unit to enhance light and energy efficiency.
FINISHES
A soft neutral palette and mixed textures create an elegant yet approachable aesthetic. Polished porcelain flooring grounds the space while maintaining a light reflective quality. Painted cabinetry and quartz countertops establish a timeless contrast with warm metallic accents in hardware and lighting. Existing trim and doors were refinished to preserve the home’s character while aligning with the new palette. Matte walls and subtle sheen on woodwork add depth and refinement without visual weight.
CABINETRY
Custom inset cabinetry in a soft painted finish anchors each vanity wall with framed mirrors to match. The design incorporates concealed outlets and balanced proportions for visual harmony. Hardware selections are slim and minimal, complementing the overall quiet elegance of the room. Drawer and door configurations provide ample storage while keeping surfaces uncluttered.
