Doylestown Master Bath Remodel
DESIGN CONCEPT
This family sought to remodel their master bathroom to better align with their evolving tastes. Our design focused on modernizing the space with sleek black marble tiling, opening up the layout, and introducing a newly designated dressing area for enhanced functionality and style.
ORIGINAL FLOOR PLAN
The original layout of the bathroom was fragmented, with a door dividing the sinks and leaving wasted countertop space, which made the shower area feel cramped. Despite being a full bathroom, the front portion featured carpet—a choice that not only posed hygiene concerns but also became problematic when wet. While the overall size of the space remained unchanged, we implemented several strategic modifications to optimize its functionality and flow.
NEW FLOOR PLAN
In our revised floor plan, we embraced an open-concept design by removing the door between the bathroom and bedroom, opting instead for a sliding door that maximizes space while ensuring privacy during showers. We also reimagined the existing flat storage area, transforming it into a stunning walk-in closet, allowing for a seamless transition from showering to getting dressed.
To enhance functionality, we repositioned the sinks to create a Jack-and-Jill configuration, maintaining separation with cabinetry that offers improved storage solutions. While we preserved the concept of separating one of the storage areas from the shower, we eliminated the dividing wall to enlarge the shower area.
The final touches included replacing the old, yellowed lighting with cooler, modern fixtures that brighten the space, giving it a fresh, contemporary feel.
FINISHES
This couple wanted a modern space with neutral finishes. We chose flat black mirror, lighting, accessory, and plumbing fixtures. This best complemented the black cobblestone and nero marquina tiling.
CABINETS
Given the space’s naturally dark tones, we aimed to introduce brighter elements to enhance the new lighting and create a balanced contrast. After completely gutting the previous storage area, we ensured the bathroom featured ample cabinetry. We chose French Toast-stained cabinets for both above and below the counter, as well as floor-to-ceiling cabinets next to the shower, providing both style and functionality throughout the space.
